A Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique identification number assigned to an individual who intends to be a director or is already a director of a company in India. It is issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). Here’s how you can obtain a Director Identification Number:
Select the Type of Entity: Choose the appropriate type of entity for your startup. This could be a Private Limited Company, Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), or a Registered Partnership.
Provide Information: Fill in the required details about your startup, such as business name, address, date of incorporation, industry, and other relevant information.
Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of documents, including:
Certificate of Incorporation
PAN card of the company
Address proof of the company
A brief description of your business
Details of directors or partners
Supporting documents as required
Self-Certification: The application requires a self-certification, stating that the startup meets the criteria specified by the government for availing benefits.
Recognition Number: Once the application is submitted, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) will review it. If everything is in order, they will issue a Certificate of Recognition, also known as the Startup Recognition Number.
Avail Benefits: With the Startup Recognition Number, you can avail various benefits offered by the government, such as tax exemptions, funding support, and more.
